چکیده

In the previous chapter on irradiance environment maps, we have seen how frequencyspace analysis can be used to efficiently compute and represent convolutions of the incident illumination with the low-pass Lambertian reflection function, i.e. clamped cosine. An obvious question is whether a similar approach is possible for general BRDFs. In this chapter, we will present such a method. We will therefore have shown that the signal-processing ideas can be used to significantly increase the quality of interactive rendering. Since we are using frequency space methods to render with environment maps, we have entitled this chapter Frequency Space Environment Map Rendering. The next chapter of the dissertation will switch from forward to inverse rendering, extending and applying the theoretical framework to determining lighting and BRDFs from sequences of real photographs.

All-Frequency Relighting of Non-Diffuse Objects using Separable BRDF Approximation

This paper presents a technique, based on pre-computed light transport and separable BRDF approximation, for interactive rendering of non-diffuse objects under all-frequency environment illumination. Existing techniques using spherical harmonics to represent environment maps and transport functions are limited to low-frequency light transport effects. Non-linear wavelet lighting approximation i...

Real-time Rendering of Dynamic Objects in Dynamic, Low-frequency Lighting Environments

This paper presents a pre-computation based method for real time global illumination of dynamic objects. Each frame of animation is rendered using spherical harmonics lighting basis functions. The pre-computed radiance transfer (PRT) associated with each object’s surface is unfolded to a rectangular light map. A sequence of light maps is compressed using a high dynamic range video compression t...

Deep Illumination: Approximating Dynamic Global Illumination with Generative Adversarial Network

We present Deep Illumination, a novel machine learning technique for approximating global illumination (GI) in real-time applications using a Conditional Generative Adversarial Network. Our primary focus is on generating indirect illumination and soft shadows with offline rendering quality at interactive rates. Inspired from recent advancement in image-to-image translation problems using deep g...

Efficient Reflectance and Visibility Approximations for Environment Map Rendering

We present a technique for approximating isotropic BRDFs and precomputed self-occlusion that enables accurate and efficient prefiltered environment map rendering. Our approach uses a nonlinear approximation of the BRDF as a weighted sum of isotropic Gaussian functions. Our representation requires a minimal amount of storage, can accurately represent BRDFs of arbitrary sharpness, and is above al...

Image encryption based on chaotic tent map in time and frequency domains

The present paper is aimed at introducing a new algorithm for image encryption using chaotic tent maps and the desired key image. This algorithm consists of two parts, the first of which works in the frequency domain and the second, in the time domain. In the frequency domain, a desired key image is used, and a random number is generated, using the chaotic tent map, in order to change the phase...
